Mortgage applications and mortgage rates up in third week of September

According to the Mortgage Bankers Association, mortgage applications were up in the third week of September from the previous week, even though mortgage rates also went up.

The rate on 30-year fixed mortgages was up to 5.81%, still very low by historical standards.
